Doors Paradox is a pretty neat puzzle game where you solve various self-contained “door” puzzles with the ultimate goal of unlocking them and moving on to the next one, while trying to find some collectibles along the way. The puzzles themselves are bite-sized and usually do not require an incredible amount of thought, so it was a nice game to go through. I had a fun time with it!
Each level (from a list of 50-ish, spread across 3 packs of puzzles), is more or less the same, you start in front of a door and must figure out the steps to unlock it. The door itself will require some key or mechanism to be opened, but in order to figure that out, you’ll need to do other things beforehand. You rotate the level and zoom in on specific things in order to take or use items, or to interact with the environment. Items can be used somewhere else to advance the puzzles, while environment interactions are mostly clicking on buttons or moving/opening devices around. This is usually straightforward enough, but in some cases I got stuck because clicking or sliding something had finicky detection and the game wouldn’t register my clicks.
In most levels, you’ll get to self-contained puzzles after interacting with some item; these can range from pipe puzzles, sliding block puzzles or geometry puzzles. They are pretty fun but you might get stomped here or there if it’s the first time you encounter that kind of challenge. The game tries, but if you’re stuck, there isn’t much in lieu of hints and your only option most of the time is to just skip a puzzle, which doesn’t feel great. But I only got stuck in a few places and that didn’t deter from the overall experience too much.
In any case, I had a good time with Doors Paradox! The fact that I went through all levels, got all the collectibles and did everything in the game is proof enough. If you want to play a chill puzzle game, check this one out!
